Robogals workshop
: Introductory Arduino Workshop, from Robogals UNSW and RoboCupJunior NSW

Date; Sunday 4 October 2020
Time: 3:30pm to 5:30pm
Spaces are limited and we will offer them on a first come first served basis.
Recommended age group: 10 to 15 years old, no experience with electronics necessary! Some coding experience (such as Scratch) is useful.
Details: We are excited to bring your child to the wonderful world of robotics, where Arduino is a great first stop for your child to get involved with! Arduino is a popular way to control electronics and make wheels move, read sensors and control robots. This workshop is a 2 hour introductory session that will teach you how to assemble simple circuits and control lights with an Arduino microcontroller. It's fully online using Tinkercad and Microsoft Teams, but you'll be given a parts list at the end if you want to build the project after the workshop.

RoboCup NSW Open 2019 report and results
Thanks to Karl Easton from
Kellyville Ridge Public School, and first-timer at RoboCup for this wonderful report on the NSW Open:

Yes, it's all over for another year. 179 Teams, 600 students representing some 57 schools spread across NSW State, Catholic and Independent schools. A new (much larger) venue this year at Sydney Olympic Park saw a host of eager young 'roboticist's' plying their trade, with some deep problem solving. But at the end of the day it was all about having fun, helping each other and tackling challenges.

Congratulations must also go to the NSW RoboCup Committee –
Greig Tardiani, Karen Binns, Wilson Cheng, Liam Dunphy, Kris Choy, Melissa Hall, David Grant, Joanna Burk, Jason Flood, Brenda Gahan and
Pam Grover – all instrumental in organizing this years event. A lot of hours go into this event not only on the day but behind the scenes there are many sleepless nights. Many of you will know these names as they are movers and shakers in the area of STEM education. Thanks also to their volunteers.

As a first timer; it was exhilarating, with lots of good take home info and tips not only offered by the judges (great at spending time with the kids pointing out areas to work on) but also opportunities to network and see what other schools were doing.
Karl hosts the DET Robotics Yammer group and brought 9 teams to RoboCup to enter Rescue this year.
